Greg Lewis

Name: Greg Lewis
Age: 30
Weight: 77kg
Height: 5'11"
What do you do all day?
For the most part, sit - on the train, at a desk, on the sofa, on my ass.
What is your athletic background?
Athletics at secondary school (sprints, hurdles and high jump) then nothing but the
occasional token run for a few years until 2009 when I decided I wanted to have a go at a triathlon (5th last, but I finished!).
What do you believe to be your strengths and weaknesses in the gym?
I probably take more time to catch my breath than I
ought to in the middle of a WOD, but now I've recognised this I'm working to change how I push myself.
On the up, my strengths include running, jumping and squatting. Aside from those, I'm always willing to learn new techniques and push myself.
Favourite and Least favourite WOD?
Fav: The Marine
Least fav: Helton (at the moment-this changes every week)
What are your fitness goals?
To be fit, whatever that means.
To me it means I'd like to be able to lift heavier, get at least one muscle-up, get double unders, run/row faster and be able to push myself harder.
What food do you enjoy when you out?
Since being introduced to eating Paleo I've tried to adhere to that as much as
possible-not easy with a sweet tooth!
Hobbies?
Films, CrossFit, reading, music, video games and obsessing over my Fight Gone Bad stats!
Why did you choose CrossFit Bath?
I knew I needed to be in better shape, but globo-gyms were providing neither results or
the motivation to keep trying. Finding CrossFit Bath was finding a team of coaches who are always determined to see you succeed; who will show you that you are capable beyond your perceived limits
and a close and welcoming community of people who will encourage and cheer you on until somebody shouts "TIME!".
What improvements have you made since joining?
Lost weight, gained muscle, found more energy, picked up weights, put them
over my head, picked up heavier ones, learned how to pullup, gained calluses, hurt like hell, took three deep breaths, put my hands back on the bar, went back for more.
Never felt better.
What advice would you give to potential new members?
Crossfit is not easy, in fact they'll tell you it gets harder as you
get better.
But you will won't find anywhere else like this with a community of coaches and athletes (yes, that includes you) who will always want you to succeed no matter what your goals are. Trust me,
you will surprise yourself.

What do you do all day?
I'm a Car Salesman at Nissan Trowbridge
What is your athletic background?
I play a lot of Football.
Before finding the movement that is CrossFit, I used to do the normal thing of going to the gym and do the same old boring routine of 30 mins on a cross trainer followed by free weights. I love the fact that I don't think I've done the same workout twice yet!!
What do you believe to be your strengths and weaknesses in the gym?
Strengths- Anything involving strength workouts
Weaknesses - My Stamina is shocking!! also my Flexibility could do with a tune-up

My favourite is ‘Filthy Fifty’;

What are your fitness goals?
Improve my overall core strength which is real important on a football field

Definitely improve my stamina
I am determined to get the "hang" (pardon the pun) of these kipping pull-ups
What food do you enjoy when eating out?
I am a big meat eater so usually Steak or Fish
Hobbies?
CrossFit, Football, Socialising with friends
Why did you choose CrossFit Bath?
I was introduced to CrossFit by a mate of mine, and as soon as I did my 1st WOD I was hooked!!
What improvements have you made since joining?
I've definitely noticed a big difference in such a short time on my strength and stamina
(not to mention that my clothes seem to fit a bit easier now haha!)
What advice would you give to potential new members?
This CrossFit was completely new to me, I had never heard of it before, but I think it's the future of overall body and mind performance as far as im concerned.
Definitely give it a go, and stick with it. The "Atmosphere" in the "Box" is electric and you're surrounded by people who are there to encourage and help you every step of the way.
Within minutes of arriving at my 1st WOD I was introduced to over 20 people who made me feel straight at home.
It's not a "Proud Peacock" gym where you feel intimidated taking weights off the bench, you work to you're own ability and no-one else's. That is why I would recommend Crossfit to anyone and everyone!

Why did you choose CrossFit Bath?
I tried them out as the locaton was convenient as I travelled from work to home. Very quickly I was addicted to the workout methodology and the challenge that each WOD brings. Additionally, I know more people in one month at CrossFit Bath than a number of years at a standard gym in Bristol, as the structure of the classes soon means that you are sharing the pain and encouragement.

Beep test up 4 incriments in 5 months. Notable improvements in physical appearance and major strength improvements.

Come along, sign up to the intro class. If you are in doubt for any reason, come along have a lok around and chat with one or more of the "trainees" rather than the "trainers"; I am sure our enthusiasm will win you over

Why did you choose CrossFit Bath?
18months after giving birth to my second baby I was out of condition, a bit fat and needing direction. I employed a personal trainer and slowly started to regain my fitness - although still remaining porky. I heard the term 'crossfit' via my cousins' facebook page. She des crossfit in Aus, she has a body to die for, so i googled crossfit Bath and figured it was only 30m from my house. I like the idea of added challenge and the variety and thought I would give it a go. The Bath trainers are all briliant, proffessional, fun and generally interested in seeing people improve. The atmosphere they have created feels like you are in a team, despite it being a solo enterprise. It is a truly impressive setup.

I have been doing crossfit for seven months, I am significantly lighter, leaner and stronger and the difference to my daily life is emmense. At the risk of sounding over dramatic crossfit has been something close to a lifesaver to me
